2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup
The 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup is the third Women's Baseball Asian Cup. Held in Hong Kong starting on May 21, 2023, it was a qualifier for the 2023 Women's Baseball World Cup. The first round featured six teams (four making their debuts) fighting for two spots in the second round (the hosts, having already qualified, also appeared in this round for warm-up purposes), where they would join Asia's top six ranked teams.

Round One[edit]
May 21[edit]
- India 9, Thailand 8. Thailand has a strong debut only to fall. Reshma Shivaji Punekar goes 6 2/3 but the win goes to Athulya Chonamkandathil, who only faced one batter. Eight Indians score, with only 3B/P Chonamkandathil scoring two. CF Ancheera Sirimaha and RF Atjima Kummoo each have three hits in a losing cause, while Sirapat Kasornsuwan takes the loss. Thailand carries a 8-7 lead into the bottom of the 9th but three straight singles give India the win, RF Srishti Sharma ending it with a two-run hit.
- Indonesia 24, Sri Lanka 3. Both teams are playing their first games, and Indonesia pulls off a rout. CF Agnes Laura Berta Regoy drives in four, SS Ni Putu Radha Ananditha Putri scores four and C Afiska Louhenapessy has four hits and four RBI. Siti Aisyah Nadia Putri gets the win over Harshika Priyadarshani Kahennalage. C Kawshalya Priyamanthi Korale Gedara has two hits to lead Sri Lanka.
- Pakistan 16, Hong Kong 1. The hosts get toasted in a four-inning mercy rule rout; Hong Kong issues 13 walks and Pakistan zero. 2B Aleena Masood scores four and RF Sana Urooj drives in three. Sadia Bibi goes the distance to beat Debby Su-Yee Mak. 2B Chor-Kwan Wong drives in Mak with Hong Kong's lone run.
May 22[edit]
- Pakistan 22, Sri Lanka 3. Pakistan keeps on rolling. C Ansa Irshad has three runs and two RBI to lead a strong offense while Sadia Bibi throws another complete game. 1B Sadunika Nawanjalee Basnayake Gedara has two of Sri Lanka's three runs, while Dilmi Aloka Dissanayake Manana Devage gets the decision.
- Indonesia 22, Hong Kong 2. The hosts again get blown out. Cut Wulan Nabilla Sabitha gets the win over Tak-Win Hung. CF Agnes Laura Berta Regoy and 1B Hanifa Safiyandini each score four runs while SS Ilka Arunia Emogene plates four.
- Thailand 11, Malaysia 3. Malaysia makes their debut, while Thailand gets their first win. SS/P Pitsinee Wongkittipong drives in three as Sirapat Kasornsuwan gets the historic win. Nur Afrina Azman Ali gets Malaysia's first decision, while LF Siti Nurfarahin Rahim has two of their five hits.

- Indonesia 8, Pakistan 2. The two teams had steamrolled through their first two games. Indonesia tops Pakistan to make it to the second round. Ni Putu Radha Ananditha Putri and Sadia Bibi both pitch complete games, Pakistan having used only one pitcher over their three games! Indonesia's balanced offense is led by 1B Hanifa Safiyandini (2 H, 2 R), C Afiska Louhenapessy (2 H, 2 R) and Putri (2 H, 2 RBI) while six of Pakistan's eights hits come from their outfield trio - 2 apiece by LF Tasmia Rubab, CF Arim Barkat and RF Sana Urooj.
- Hong Kong 20, Sri Lanka 11. Sri Lanka finishes their first event at 0-3. SS Ka-Shuen Wong steals ten bases and scores five times and Wai-Yin Michelle Lam saves it for Tak-Wing Hung. P/SS Darshani Hemakanthi Wickramanayake Naketh Gedara has three hits for Sri Lanka, while Harshika Privadarshani Kahennalage gets the loss.
- India 19, Malaysia 0. India makes it into the second round, joining the similarly-named Indonesia. Reshma Shivaji Punekar allows no hits and no walks in four innings, fanning 11, in a mercy rule rout; only two hit batsmen cost her a perfect game. She also scores three and drives in three, while LF Jyoti Pawar scores four times and 3B Athulya Chonamkandathil drives in four. Hilmi Afrina Afiqah takes the defeat.
Round Two[edit]

- Philippines 11, Indonesia 1. After cruising through round one, Indonesia has a harder time to open round two, taking their first loss. Jojielyn Lim gets the win over Made Ayu Oktaviani. RF Madaelene Domaug has 3 hits and 3 runs from the 9 slot. 1B Hafiya Safiyandini has two of Indonesia's three hits.
- Japan 10, South Korea 0. The defending champs cruise as Ayami Sato and Asaka Tsuru team on a one-hitter, while 1B Yuki Kawabata drives in three. 3B Hyeo-nah Kim has the lone South Korean hit while Min-jeong Kwak gets the decision.
- Chinese Taipei 23, People's Republic of China 0. In a four-inning mercy rule rout, Hsia-Chien Wang, Yu-Pei Chen and Chi-Fen Chen combine on a three-hitter while Sixuan Liu allows seven runs (two earned) in one inning. CF Hsiao-Mei Chen, LF Yu-Chuan Tu and 3B/SS Yi-Hsuan Chen each score three, while Yi-Hsuan Chen and 1B Chiao-Yun Huang both drive in a trio.
- Hong Kong 12, India 7. Hong Kong brings in their better players for round two. LF Ferminia Leung drives in three without a hit. Yin-Sum Kwong gets the win over Reshma Shivaji Punekar. In a losing cause, CF Ajanya Taikottamparambil, the #9 hitter, goes 2 for 2 with two walks two RBI.
May 27[edit]
- South Korea 21, Indonesia 3. South Korea rebounds as Bo-mi Kim allows one unearned run in three for the win and 3B Hyeo-nah Kim drives in five. CF Agnes Laura Berta Regoy gets two hits for Indonesia while Ni Putu Radha Ananditha Putri takes the loss.
- Japan 7, Philippines 1. Kana Onodera pitches four shutout innings and Arisa Hotta saves it. 2B/SS Haruna Tadano goes 3-for-3. SS Mary Nichole Padasas drives in CF/P Helga Campos with the lone run for the Philippines. Dharlene Dolleton is the losing hurler.
- Hong Kong 20, People's Republic of China 6. Yin-Sum Kwong goes to 2-0 and also drives in four, with the win saved by Yik-Shun Hung. 1B Janice Lau goes 3-for-3 with five runs and RF Vanessa Mui homers. Jie Xhang loses it.
- Chinese Taipei 11, India 0. Chiao-Chi Lai and Yi-Hsuan Chu throw a one-hitter while 1B Chia-Hui Yang drives in four and DH Chia-Yu Liu has three runs and two RBI. LF/P Jyoti Pawar has the only hit for Indonesia, while Athulya Chonamkandathil gets their decision.
May 28[edit]
- South Korea 9, Philippines 5. South Korea finishes ahead of the Philippines, unlike the last Cup. Ji-sook Lee saves Min-sung Park's win. SS Ju-a Park's 3 hits and 3 RBI lead the attack to beat Jojielyn Lim. C Shyla Mae Celis has two hits in a losing effort.
- Chinese Taipei 19, Hong Kong 0. Taiwan finishes pool play with a 53-0 run differential. 13 players score for the team, with 3B/SS Yi-Hsuan Chiu scoring two and driving in three. Chiao-Yun Huang, Chen-Yun Chang and Chi-Jung Chen combine on a one-hitter. 1B Wing-Lam Chung has Hong Kong's only hit; Wai-Yin Michelle Lam gives up 8 runs in 1/3 of an inning.
- Japan 27, Indonesia 0. Akino Tanaka and Mizuki Bando throw a perfect game while RF/CF Miwa Naraoka scores four and drives in six in a four-inning mercy rule rout. Kayla Putri Aulia Zahra surrenders 11 runs without retiring anyone.
- People's Republic of China 9, India 4. Jiayi Fang gives China their first win of the tournament with RF Huan Yang scoring two and driving in two. Reshma Shivaji Punekar falls to 1-2 while RF Srishti Sharma has both a run and a RBI off the bench for India.

- India 13, Indonesia 10. C Sana Jinsiya Unnummal and 1B Arati Tanaji Bhagat score three runs each while CF Ritu Shekhar Francis drives in three for India. Sadnha goes four innings of relief for the win over Made Ayu Oktaviani. CF Agnes Laura Berta Regoy drives in three for Indonesia.
- Philippines 16, People's Republic of China 1. In the other consolation round game, Mery Ann Ramos and Jojielyn Lim combine on a two-hitter. 3B Neo Mahinay drives in four without a hit. Chinese starter Rui Du retires no one while 3B Jie Li scores their only run.
- South Korea 18, Hong Kong 2. Sayuri Ono beats Yin-Sum Kwong in a lopsided game to open the medal round, with both teams already advancing to the Women's Baseball World Cup. RF Seo-jin Yang goes 3 for 3 with 3 runs and 3 RBI to lead the rout. LF Fermiana Leung has two hits for the hosts.
- Japan 12, Chinese Taipei 1. The two powerhouses squared off and it looked like Taiwan still had a ways to go to catch Japan. Ayami Sato and Asaka Tsuru held Taiwan to one run in seven while Yu-Pei Chen allowed four runs in two and the bullpen was similar. LF Yaya Kojima scored three runs from the top of the order while RF Miwa Naraoka drove in three. SS/P Yu-Ying Hsieh led Taiwan with two hits while CF Hsiao-Mei Chen has the only run for Taiwan.
May 30[edit]
- People's Republic of China 13, Indonesia 0. China finishes 6th as Sixuan Liu throws a one-hitter while RF Huan Yang and 1B Yajie Du both drive in three. CF Agnes Laura Berta Regoy has Indonesia's only hit while Siti Aisyah Nadia Putri gets the loss.
- Japan 15, Hong Kong 0. Kana Onodera and Arisa Hotta team up on a two-hitter, LF Yaya Kojima scores three from the 9 spot and SS Akari Hoshikawa and RF Erika Nakae each drive in three. Shee-In Choi gets the loss while only 1B/3B Janice Lau and RF Vanessa Mui get hits for Hong Kong.
- Philippines 12, India 2. The Philippines finish 5th, India 7th. Mary Nichole Padasas gets the win in relief, with 3B Neo Mahinay leading the offense (2 R, 2 RBI). Jyoti Pawar takes the defeat.
- Chinese Taipei 15, South Korea 5. Taiwan earns a rematch with Japan as Hsiao-Chien Wang beats Min-sung Park. CF Hsiao-Mei Chen drives in six.

- South Korea 14, Hong Kong 4. South Korea gets their second Bronze in the Cup, Sayuri Ono getting the win while offensive contributors include LF Soo-ji Ahn (3 R), RF Seo-jin Yang (3 RBI), DH Eun-jeong Joo (3 RBI), 2B Jia Lee (3 R) and C Bit-na Lee (3 R). Yin-Sum Kwong falls to 2-2 while CF Wing-Hin Ng scores half of the runs for the hosts.
- Japan 8, Chinese Taipei 3. For the third straight Cup, Japan beats Taiwan for the title. MVP Akino Tanaka allows three hits in five shutout innings and Mizuki Bando closes it out for the save. 3B Ayaka Deguchi goes 2 for 2 with 2 runs and 2 RBI from the bottom of the order; her two-run single in the second puts Japan ahead to stay. C Shih-Yun Lee drives in a pair in a losing cause, with Chiao-Chi Lai getting the decision.
