Biographical Information[edit]

Darshani Hemakanthi Wickramanayake Naketh Gedara was on the first Sri Lankan women's national team, at the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup. In their first game, she started at shortstop, batting second against Indonesia. She grounded out against Made Ayu Oktaviani in the first then singled off Siti Aisyah Nadia Putri in the third to drive in Dilani Nipunika Dissanayake Mudiyanselage. By this point, she had moved to pitcher, relieving Harshika Priyadarshani Kahennalage. She allowed five hits, two walks and five runs (all earned) in 1 2/3 IP while striking out one (Febina Fitriani). She had three hits, including a triple, against Hong Kong but allowed four runs (two earned) while retiring none that day. She finished the event 4-for-7 with a triple, two runs, RBI, two walks and three steals, posting a 29.40 ERA and fielding .714. She tied for 9th in the first round in hits, was second to Debby Su-Yee Mak in slugging and tied Tasmia Rubab for the longest hit (no one homered and they were the only ones to triple). She was Sri Lanka's top hitter. [1]
