Biographical Information[edit]

Debby Su-Yee Mak has played for the Hong Kong women's national team.

She debuted in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup. Against titlist Japan, she relieved Sze-Kei Han in the 5th with a 19-0 deficit. She got Miwa Tanaka on a grounder then allowed doubles to Ami Sakahara and Nozomi Abe and a single to Ayaka Deguchi. Now down 20-0, she was succeeded by Kit-Yi Kitty Au, who let both inherited runners in. She also went 2/3 of an inning against Australia with two hits and a walk but no runs. Two Hong Kong hurlers wound up with higher ERAs. [1] In the 2019 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, she teamed with Yin-Wah Wong and Lucci Lucee Liyeung on a one-hitter against Pakistan. [2]

Mak was a pitcher-catcher in the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup. In the first round, she allowed 9 hits, 8 walks and 13 runs (11 earned) in 1 2/3 IP in a loss to Pakistan and Sadia Bibi; Wai-Yin Michelle Lam took over. She went 3-for-5 with two walks, two doubles, three runs and two RBI but had a 31.50 ERA in two outings. She was among the round's leaders in average (tied for 5th with Hanifa Safiyandini and Ishari Nikeshala Abeywickrama Thrimanna Hettige), slugging (1st, .143 ahead of Darshani Hemakanthi Wickramanayake Naketh Gedara), OBP (tied Hettige for 5th), doubles (tied Pitsinee Wongkittipong for first), hits allowed (10, tied Nur Afrina Azman Ali for 5th) and runs allowed (14, tied Shee-In Choi and Tak-Wing Hung for 3rd). In the main rounds, she saw reduced action, going 0-for-1 and allowing 10 hits (4 earned) in 1 2/3 IP. Hong Kong advanced to the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup. [3]

In the 2023-2024 World Cup, she pitched in three of Hong Kong's five games, allowing 8 hits, 10 walks and 14 runs (5 earned) in 2 2/3 IP. She lost to Julia Konigshofer and Canada. She did strike out two against pool champion USA, getting Sarah Edwards looking and London Studer swinging. She tied for the most appearances in the pool, tied Rosa Del Castillo and Ji-sook Lee for 4th in hits allowed, tied Gen Beacom and Yin-Sum Kwong for 3rd in walks, was 3rd in runs allowed (after Lam and Hei-Ting Lau) and tied for 10th in earned runs allowed. Only Yik-Shan Hung and Kwong had better ERAs for Hong Kong than her 13.13. [4]
