Biographical Information[edit]

Yik-Shang Hung has been a regular of the Hong Kong women's national team.

Hung debuted in the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup. [1] She kept Hong Kong in the game against Venezuela in the opener, leaving in the 7th with a 4-4 tie, the bases loaded and two out; she took the loss when Hei-Ting Lau hit a batter to force in a run. Playing short against the Netherlands, she drew four walks and scored three runs in a win. In the 7th/8th place game, she pitched a four-hit shutout to beat Loes Asmus and the Netherlands, walking three and fanning six. For the event, she hit .000/.571/.000 in 7 plate appearances, was 1-1 with a 2.56 ERA and handled 11 chances error-free. She led the Cup in IP (13 2/3, 2/3 ahead of Sarah Hudek) and tied Chiao-Yun Huang and Marti Sementelli for 5th in K (7). The teenager easily led Hong Kong in ERA; Ho-Ying Au was next at 12.25. Yee-Wan Lam was their only other hurler to get a win. [2]

She again played a little infield in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup in addition to pitching. She pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings against Team USA but lost in a rematch to Asmus and the Netherlands. She was 1 for 5 with a run, posted a 6.63 ERA and fielded .786. [3] At the 2017 Women's Baseball Asian Cup (the first Women's Baseball Asian Cup), she pitched two shutout innings against Pakistan but did not get the win as she did not work enough innings. She lost to Wen-Ching Hsieh and Taiwan and also mopped up against South Korea to finish at 0-1, 6.46. She led the Cup in innings (3 1/3 ahead of Yu-Ying Hsieh), tied for second in games pitched and started (both one behind Shweta Das) and was third in strikeouts (6, one behind Yu-Ying Hsieh and Sunil Bodekar). [4]

Her next tournament was the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup. She played right, second, short and pitcher. Her lone hit was a two-run single off Australia's Sinead Flanigan. She finished at .100/.182/.100 with two runs and two RBI, fielded .714 and was 2-0 with a 4.40 ERA. She got a complete game win over Cuba and Dianelis Porro, then won a 4-1 complete game duel win in yet another match-up with Asmus of the Netherlands. She tied for second in the Cup in wins (one behind Huang and Ayami Sato), tied for the most complete games (with Amanda Asay, Huang and Stacy Piagno), was 8th in IP (14 1/3, between Piagno and Rak-yung Kim), second in hits allowed (20, 5 behind Huang) but not in the top ten in runs allowed. [5]

At the 2019 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, she was the first pitcher to face the Philippines women's national team in their debut. She took the loss against Clariz Padernal Palma, then took the loss in Hong Kong's 19-18 loss to Yeo-nu Choe and South Korea. [6]
