Biographical Information[edit]

Yi-Hsuan Chiu has been on the Taiwanese women's national team.

She debuted as a teenager in the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup; she was the team's youngest player, four years younger than Chi-Jung Chen. She was hardly a benchwarmer despite her youth, starting in the opener against China at third base, hitting 7th. She hit a two-run single off Sixuan Liu her first time up, part of a three-run, three-RBI debut. She finished at .438/.526/.500 with 7 runs and 6 RBI in six games, going 4-for-4 in steals. She also pitched twice, with a 7.88 ERA (though she did wrap up a combined one-hitter with Chiao-Chi Lai versus India), and fielded .824 between 3B, SS and P. She helped Taiwan win the Silver Medal and was among the event leaders in runs (tied for 6th), hits (7, tied for 8th), assists (11, 3rd, behind Ju-a Park and Kae Iwami) and errors (3, tied for 4th). In the title game, she was 1-for-3 with a run in their 8-3 loss to Japan. She was named the All-Star at third. [1]

Chiu remained with Taiwan for the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup. She went 4-for-8 with two steals, a run and four RBI in group play and handled eight chances error-free. In her lone mound appearance, she relieved Lai in the 5th with a 13-2 lead and went 1-2-3 against Chiara Enrione-Thorrand, Léna Sellam and Angélique André. Chi-Fen Chen closed it out. [2] In the final round, she was 9-for-16 with a walk, 3 runs and a RBI and fielded .769; while Taiwan went winless in that portion, she tied Miu Shiraishi for the top average, tied for the most hits (with Sena Catterall, Miwa Naraoka, Mia Valcke and Shiraishi), tied Yuki Kawabata for 8th in total bases, was 4th in OBP, ranked 10th in slugging, was 8th in OPS (between Andréanne Leblanc and Nanako Hanabusa) and tied for second in errors (3, one behind Zoe Hicks). Valcke beat her out as All-World shortstop. [3]
