Biographical Information

Kae Iwami debuted in the Japanese Women's Baseball League in 2015, hitting .292/.308/.326. She batted .302/.362/.417 in '16, .244/.303/.336 in 2017, .292/.333/.368 in 2018 and .240/.296/.307 in '19. She ended her JWBL career at .268/.316/.344 in 223 games with 71 runs and 72 RBI.

She then moved to the Seibu Lions women's team. Becoming a physical education teacher at Seisei High School, she was their first women's baseball coach in 2022. In the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, she started at short for Japan. She hit 8th in their opener against South Korea. She doubled off Min-jeong Kwak her first time up and finished the tourney 7-for-11 with 7 runs, 5 RBI and 2 walks in 5 games; she was 2 for 3 with 2 runs in the title game win over Taiwan. She also handled 14 chances error-free. She was among the Cup leaders in runs (tied for 6th), hits (tied for 8th), average (tied Iori Miura and Chiao-Yun Huang for 3rd) and assists (2nd, behind Ju-a Park). She was named the All-Star shortstop.
