Biographical Information[edit]

Kae Iwami debuted in the Japanese Women's Baseball League in 2015, hitting .292/.308/.326. [1] She batted .302/.362/.417 in '16, .244/.303/.336 in 2017, .292/.333/.368 in 2018 and .240/.296/.307 in '19. [2] She ended her JWBL career at .268/.316/.344 in 223 games with 71 runs and 72 RBI. [3]

She then moved to the Seibu Lions women's team. [4] Becoming a physical education teacher at Seisei High School, she was their first women's baseball coach in 2022. [5] In the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, she started at short for Japan. She hit 8th in their opener against South Korea. She doubled off Min-jeong Kwak her first time up and finished the tourney 7-for-11 with 7 runs, 5 RBI and 2 walks in 5 games; she was 2 for 3 with 2 runs in the title game win over Taiwan. She also handled 14 chances error-free. She was among the Cup leaders in runs (tied for 6th), hits (tied for 8th), average (tied Iori Miura and Chiao-Yun Huang for 3rd) and assists (2nd, behind Ju-a Park). She was named the All-Star shortstop. [6]
