Biographical Information

Iori Miura has been one of the best female outfielders in Japan.

Miura was her high school's tennis team captain. She played for the Kyoto Asto Dreams when the Japanese Women's Baseball League was formed in 2010 and led the league in outfield fielding percentage (.991) that year. In 2012, she tied Akane Nakamura for the league lead in hits (48), led in average (.390) and led in steals (17). She joined Nakamura and Mika Okura as the Best Nine picks in the outfield. On March 26, she hit the first inside-the-park grand slam in JWBL history. She was the center fielder for Japan in the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup and hit .429/.500/.536 with 10 runs and 10 RBI in 9 games. She went 3 for 3 against the Netherlands, produced both runs in Japan's first loss to the USA, drove in 3 against Cuba and scored 3 against Taiwan. She went 1 for 3 with a run in the 3-0 win over the US in the Gold Medal game. For the event, she tied for 6th in RBI (with Kate Psota, Christina Kreppold, Nicole Luchanski and Bronwyn Gell), tied Caitlin Everett and Tamara Holmes for 11th in runs and tied Bradi Wall for 11th in hits (12). She made the tournament All-Star outfield alongside Jenna Flannigan (Canada) and Hsiao-Mei Chen. Ayaka Deguchi was the only other Japanese position player picked (shortstop) though Japan had both All-Star pitchers (Yukari Isozaki and Ayami Sato).
