Biographical Information[edit]

Sayuri Ono has pitched for the South Korean women's national team.

She has a Japanese name as her father is Japanese and her mother Korean; she spent most of her childhood in Korea. [1] She debuted for South Korea in the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup at age 17. She relieved Ji-sook Lee with two outs in the third and a 5-0 deficit against champion Japan. She got Kae Iwami on a fly to end the inning. In the 4th, she retired Ayaka Deguchi and walked Yaya Kojima. Song-hee Choi took over and let the inherited run in. She then got wins over Yin-Sum Kwong and Hong Kong her next two outings, the latter one in the Bronze Medal Game. South Korea advanced to the 2023 Women's Baseball World Cup. She finished the Asian Cup at 2-0, 5.25. She tied Kwong and Kana Onodera for the most wins and tied for fifth in appearances. [2]

In the 2023 Women's Baseball World Cup, she got the tough assignment of starting against Team USA, allowing seven hits and six runs in one inning in a loss to Jamie Baum. [3]
