Biographical Information[edit]
Shyla Mae Celis was the starting catcher for the Philippines in the 2023 Women's Baseball Asian Cup. She hit cleanup in their opener against Indonesia. Her first time, against Made Ayu Oktaviani, she flew into an error to score Mary Nichole Padasas. She got her first hit off Min-sung Park of South Korea. She finished at .286/.333/.429 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI in five games, fielding .920 and throwing out 15.8% of those who tried to steal. She tied for 6th in the Cup in the event's second and third rounds (those her team played in) in two-baggers, leading her squad. Only Jun-seo Yang and Yajie Du had more putouts than her 20 and she threw out the most runners stealing (3) though four catchers allowed more swipes. [1]
