The Teams[edit]

American League[edit]

The American League team was led by manager Billy Martin and coaches Sparky Anderson and Dick Howser. Bob Lemon, who had managed the New York Yankees in the previous year's World Series should rightfully have managed the American league team; however, he had been fired 14 games into the season and was replaced by his opponent in the 1981 ALCS, Oakland Athletics' manager Martin.
