1945 All-Star Game

The 1945 All-Star Game was not played due to World War II. It was scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 1945 at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. On April 24th, at an owners' meeting, the game was cancelled due to severe wartime travel restrictions.

Despite there being no game the Associated Press named two all-star squads after requesting nominations from each of the team's managers. Thirteen of the major leagues' managers responded; New York Yankees manager Joe McCarthy did not participate and neither did the two managers of the proposed teams, Luke Sewell and Billy Southworth. The rosters are not considered official.

Ten of the players selected would never play in an All-Star Game.

To replace the cancelled game, eight interleague games were scheduled during the All-Star break, with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross and War Relief Fund.
