History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 1982 Atlanta Braves began the season by winning their first 13 games. At the time, this was the most by any team since 1901, and while it was matched by the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers and the 2023 Tampa Bay Rays, it has not been surpassed since. Led by 1982 National League Most Valuable Player Award winner Dale Murphy, the Braves won the National League West division title after a close race with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.

However, they were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.
