2009 Major League Baseball
The 2009 Major League Baseball season was the tenth season in which the two major leagues, the National League and the American League, were consolidated into a single entity under the authority of the Commissioner, Bud Selig.

The 2009 World Baseball Classic was held before the 2009 season. Japan repeated as champions, having also won the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2006; they defeated South Korea in the finale.
