Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Rapuanowas a major league umpire from 1990, when he began working in the National League, until 2012. He began his professional career in the New York-Penn League in 1985 and moved up to the Florida State League (1986-1987), Southern League (1988) and Triple-A Alliance (1989) before making it to the majors in 1990.

He worked the 1995 and 2008 All-Star Games, the 2001 and 2003 World Series, and the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He also umpired five League Championship Series and eight Division Series. He has conducted baseball clinics in Italy.

In 2011, Rapuano was appointed a crew chief. He umpired 23 seasons and 2,846 regular season games before retiring after the 2012 season. He then became an umpiring evaluator for Major League Baseball and participated in the evaluation and training of minor league umpires.
