Biographical Information[edit]
Brian Knight is an umpire who worked in the Pacific Coast League from 2000 to 2010 and officiated in the 2006 World Baseball Classic; he began working in professional baseball in 1995.
He first worked a major league game on a fill-in basis in 2001. On May 19, 2008, he was the home plate umpire when Jon Lester threw a no-hitter for the Boston Red Sox against the Kansas City Royals. In spite of not being a regular umpire, he worked as many as 150 games in 2009.
In 2011, Knight was finally added to the major leagues' full-time umpiring staff, being assigned to the crew headed by Jerry Layne. He worked the 2012 All-Star Game and the 2013 and 2017 World Baseball Classics.
