Biographical Information[edit]
James Hoye began his umpiring career in the 1995 New York-Penn League. He moved up to the South Atlantic League in 1996 and the Florida State League in 1998. From 2001-2008, he was an International League umpire and he was in the Arizona Fall League from 2002-2007. From 2003 to 2009, Hoye was a substitute umpire in the major leagues. He also worked the 2006 World Baseball Classic. He was appointed to the MLB staff in 2010 and worked his first postseason series the following year. He was part of the umpiring crew for the 2015 All-Star Game. he was named a crew chief in 2023.
