Eric Richard Cooper

Biographical Information[edit]

Eric Cooper was a major league umpire. He umpired his first major league game as part of the American League staff in 1996, the joined the unified major league staff in 2000. He was the home plate umpire for the final game of the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He umpired in the Division Series only a few days before passing away from a blood clot resulting from knee surgery at age 52 in 2019.
