2010 South American Games

The 2010 South American Games were the 9th edition of the South American Games and were held in Medellin, Colombia. The baseball competition was run from March 22 through March 27, 2010. News sources stated in February that the event was canceled due to not enough participants - only Argentina, Colombia and the Netherlands Antilles had registered teams. Venezuela registered a team, though, only days before the Games began, to give a compliment of four teams, and Venezuela would go on to win the event.

March 22

•  Venezuela 5,  Netherlands Antilles 4 - The Antilles get off to a strong start to what will be a disappointing tourney, taking the favored Venezuelans into extra innings before falling. Venezuelan reliever Carlos Mori threw four shutout innings of one-hit ball to rescue the game for the Venezuelans, who get their offense from CF Jonathan Sivira (3 R) and 1B Víctor Marapacuto (2 for 2, 2 BB, 3 RBI). SS Johnny Gregorius drives in two for the Antilles while reliever Sherwenne Antersijn takes the defeat.

•  Colombia 5,  Argentina 2 - The hosts start strong against Argentinian ace Federico Tanco (their only pitcher with minor league experience), while Yesid Salazar tossed six shutout innings for Colombia. 2B Ismael Castro homers and drives in a couple for Colombia.

The complete Argentinian roster included Federico Tanco, Rolando Arnedo, Rodrigo Bruera, Mariano Cádiz, Sebastián Fontana, Miguel García, Sebastián García, Nicolás Hernández, Lionel Hernández, Leandro Juárez, Matías Ledezma, Pablo Leone, Juan Martín, Martín Mondino, Guido Monis, Cristian Murillo, Gabriel Sanso, Nicolás Solari, Ezequiel Suárez Lela, Gastón Wilsen, César Yanello and Eduardo Zurbriggen. They were managed by Dario Martin and coached by Gustavo Escames, Gustavo Tomassini and Hector Ramón.

The Colombian squad consisted of Carlos Villalobos, Hamilton Sarabia, Jason De Aguas, Carlos Balcázar, Juan Carlos Llamas, Ronald Ramírez, Ismael Castro, Deivis Rivadeneira, Sebastián Villegas, Alejandro Beyer, Diover Ávila, Jonathan Lozada, Javier Ortiz, Hernán Guzmán, Julio Santiago, Dorian Castro, Luis Torres, Cristian Mendoza, Yesid Salazar, Carlos Ladeuth, Ronald Ramírez Montoya and Vladimir Solana.

Venezuela's team included Jesús Yépez, Jesús Martínez, Erick Arteaga, Orlando Perdomo, Carlos Birriel, Juan Bustamante, Israel Camacaro, Carlos Mori, Leonel Campos, Juvenal Lara, Israel Díaz, Edgar Bruzual, Humberto Querales, Jesús Mogollón, Wilmer Alvarado, Juan Lucena, Dennis Campos, Víctor Marapacuto, Williams Vásquez, Jean Centeno, Jonathan Sivira and Arturo Rivas.
