Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Mory was the only Venezuelan pitcher to appear in more than one game in the 2007 Pan American Games, with two stints on the hill. He struck out 3 in 2 1/3 shutout innings and allowed one hit, but walked five. He was again lucky in the 2007 Baseball World Cup, with 4 hits and 3 walks but no runs in 3 innings for Venezuela. Mory helped Venezuela win Gold at the 2010 South American Games.

Mory started a combined shutout against Guatemala in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. He was 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament, beating Argentina and getting a no-decision in a good outing against Team USA. In relief against Cuba, he allowed the losing run in the 9th when Alfredo Despaigne drove in Héctor Olivera Jr.

The right-hander was 1-2 with a 8.49 ERA in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, tying 8 other hurlers for the event lead in losses and leading with four wild pitches. He beat Nicaragua in his opener despite 9 hits in 6 1/3 IP (only 2 R) but allowed two runs in one inning to Australia in a 15-0 loss to Chris Oxspring; relievers Jesús Reyes and George Delgado fared worse. He then allowed 8 runs in 4 1/3 IP in a loss to Panama.

In the 2011 Pan American Games, Carlos allowed 17 hits and 8 runs (7 earned) in 8 2/3 IP. He was much better in the 2013 Bolivarian Games, throwing a 7-inning, 12-K, one-walk no-hitter against Bolivia. In the semifinals, he allowed one run in 8 1/3 IP on 5 hits and 6 K (1 BB) to Guatemala and left with a tie against Guillermo Valdez before Venezuela won in extra innings. They wound up with the Silver Medal.

Mory was shelled in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games - 4 H (2 HR), 1 BB, 1 HB and 7 R in one inning of work against the Dominican Republic.
