Dorian Castro has been a frequent pitcher in the Colombian League. He tossed two shutout innings for his homeland in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. In the 2006 COPABE Olympic qualifiers, he gave up 12 hits and 6 runs in five innings to post the third-highest ERA on the Colombian staff.
Castro then signed with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats for 2007. He went 5-9 with a 5.92 ERA, walking only 29 in 127 2/3 IP. He was 4-3 with a save and a 4.04 ERA for the 2009 Yuma Scorpions; he was second on the club in ERA behind Emiliano Fruto, a former major leaguer. He pitched for Colombia in the 2010 South American Games, when they won a Silver Medal.
