Biographical Information

Rodrigo Bruera was on the Argentinian national team that won the 2004 South American Championship, the country's first outright South American Championship title. He hit .240/.265/.264 for Alpina Trieste in the Italian Serie A1 in 2005. He was much better on the hill, going 6-2 with five saves and a 2.45 ERA. The next year, Bruera had a 5.32 ERA in 13 outings for T&A San Marino.

Bruera helped Argentina win the Bronze Medal at the 2010 South American Games, then remained with them for the 2010 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament. He was 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in the latter event, getting the team's lone win, in relief of Federico Tanco against the Dutch Antilles national team. He also helped Argentina to Gold Medals in the 2011 South American Championship, 2012 South American Championship and 2013 South American Championship and played for them in the 2015 South American Championship.

He was Argentina's most-used hurler in the 2016 South American Championship, appearing in four of their six games. He tied for second in the event in games pitched (3) in the round-robin, one behind Marco Dávalos, going 1-0 despite a 8.10 ERA; his win came over Peru in extra innings. He allowed one run in 1/3 IP in a 10-4 Gold Medal game loss to Brazil. In the 2018 South American Championship, he did very well in his lone start, holding Chile to one run in six (4 H, 1 BB, 3 K). He was 4th in the event in ERA behind José Flores, Federico Schultze and Diego Echeverría.
