2011 South American Championship
The 2011 South American Championship marked the second rebirth of the South American Championship; the event had not been played since 2005. Held from November 11 to November 21, 2011 in Buenos Aires, it was won by the host Argentinian national team.
Argentina took the Gold, topping Ecuador 5-0 in the Gold Medal game. Gabriel Sansó was the All-Star third baseman and Mauricio Nagahashi the All-Star right fielder. Nagahashi led the event in steals. Federico Tanco was named MVP of the finals.
Ecuador had the most All-Stars: C Jean Delgado (the tourney leader in RBI), 2B David Rosario (the run leader) and LF Diego Pérez.
Brazil won the Bronze Medal, losing one close game to Argentina and two close ones to Ecuador but otherwise routing the competition. Ariel Frigo led the tournament in average (.563) and slugging (.875), Jun Sato led in ERA (0.00) and Jean Tome led in home runs. They did not have any All-Stars, surprisingly.
Chile placed 4th and had two All-Stars, 1B Ignacio Castro and SS James Sommerville. Pablo Ossandon led the event with two victories.
Peru had one All-Star, CF Daniel Shimura, and was 5th.
Bolivia was last.
