1989 Little League World Series

From BR Bullpen

The 1989 Little League World Series featured a turnout of 40,000 for the finale, a record at that time. The Little League World Series that year featured teams from Toronto, ON, Kaohsiung City, Dhahran, Maracaibo, Zulia, San Pedro, CA, Trumbull, CT, Tampa, FL and Davenport, IA. Victoria Brucker of San Pedro became the second girl to play in a LLWS while Betty Speziale became the first woman to serve as an umpire in a LLWS.

In the finale, Trumbull, CT beat Kaohsiung City by a 5-2 margin. The game's big star was Chris Drury, who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and a steal while pitching a complete game win; Drury would go on to be an Olympic hockey player and NHL Rookie of the Year instead of a baseball star. 1B K. Martin went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and a solo homer for Trumbull as well. For Kaohsiung City, Chin-Chih Huang was on the losing side.
