1999 Little League World Series
The 1999 Little League World Series was the 63rd Little League World Series. It was won by Osaka, which was managed by Tsutomu Kameyama. In the finale, Kazuki Sumiyama tossed a two-hit shutout to beat Phenix City, AL, 5-0. It was the first shutout in the finale in 8 years. Sumiyama hit .615 in the Series and won two games, fanning 19 in 11 innings. Other notable players included Colby Rasmus (Phenix City) and Stephen Fife, both of whom would appear in the major leagues. Japan had last won a Little League World Series in 1976.
