1993 Little League World Series

From BR Bullpen

The 1993 Little League World Series was the 47th Little League World Series. The teams involved were North Vancouver, BC, Ramstein Air Base (Germany), David, Chiriqui, Garapan City (the first team from Saipan), Long Beach, CA, Bedford, NH, Richmond, VA and Hamilton, OH. The series featured five no-hitters: A three-man effort for Hamilton against Richmond, Thomas Beyer of East Bedford versus Hamilton, Carlos Arauz of Panama against Germany and Sean Burroughs of Long Beach had two (both with 16 whiffs; he also hit .600 on the Series), one against Hamilton and one in the US championship against Bedford. Burroughs was the second pitcher to throw two no-hitters in one Little League World Series and the 6th to have two shutouts. There was some offense in the Series as Long Beach scored 21 runs against Bedford.

In the finale, Long Beach beat David, 3-2. It was 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded. Panama replaced starter Alex Beitia with Abel Navarro, who fanned Billy Gwinn. Pinch-hitter Jeremy Hess came through with a single to score Charlie Hayes with the winner. Burroughs was 0 for 1 with two walks, a run and two errors as Long Beach's shortstop. Long Beach became the first American team in Series history to repeat as champs.
