1983 Little League World Series
The 1983 Little League World Series was the 37th Little League World Series. It included teams from Sherbrooke, QC, Barahona, Barahona, Osaka, Osaka, Al Khobar (, made up of military family kids, it was the first Saudi Arabian participant), Sacramento, CA, Stamford, CT, Marietta, GA and West Chicago, IL. Osaka's Hidetoshi Yoshino threw a no-hitter against Saudi Arabia, while Japan was in turn no-hit by Barahona's Jose Almonte (Almonte hit a grand slam against Canada too). Rafael Santana of Barahona was 7 for 9 for the tournament. In the finale (attended by a record-setting 40,000 fans), Marietta beat Barahona, 3-1. Marc Pisciotta pitched a complete game win and drove in a run for Marietta to beat a hurler named Ruello. #9 hitter and CF J. Adkins was 2 for 2 with a run and a RBI for Marietta.
