1981 Little League World Series
The 1981 Little League World Series was the 35th Little League World Series. It marked the fifth straight win by a team from Taiwan, a record run for a non-US country (through 2013). The teams were Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Belgium (the first Belgian entry in a LLWS), Trail, BC, Taichung, Monterrey, Nuevo León, Escondido, CA, Tampa, FL and Barrington, IL. Two future major leaguers participated with Tampa's Derek Bell (the first future major leaguer to play in two LLWS) and Barrington's Dan Wilson.
In the finale, Taichung beat Tampa, 4-2. Yao-Hsin Wang and Ming-Pin Chang combined to fan 10 while catcher Cheng-Ching Chang drove in two. Bell was Tampa's pitcher and allowed 5 hits, 3 walks and 5 wild pitches while striking out nine.
