2016 Little League World Series

The 2016 Little League World Series was the 70th Little League World Series. A US team won for the first time in five years as Maine-Endwell of Endwell, NY and Maine, NY took the title.

Johnston, IA 5, Chula Vista, CA 1. California loses its LLWS opener for the first time since 2002. JT Garcia scores the typing run in the first then hits a homer in the 5th for insurance.
Vancouver, BC 10, Tokyo 4. Japan loses its Series opener for the first time since 1965, ending a run of 23 games in a row. Loreto Sinisclachi fans 13 for Canada.
Aguadulce, Coclé 10, San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 2. Joaquin Tejada overcomes five walks in 4 1/3 IP, striking out nine and allowing one hit.
Sydney, New South Wales 3, Emilia-Romagna 1. Clayton Campbell struck out seven in five shutout frames to give Australia an opening win.
Bowling Green, KY 11, San Antonio, TX 1. Devin Obee scores three runs and strikes out six to lead Bowling Green to victory.
Seoul 3, Willemstad 0. Jun-ho Jeong strikes out 10 to lead South Korea to an opening victory.
Goodlettsville, TN 3, Bend, OR 2. Zach McWilliams fans 9 in a win and Robert Carroll's two-run double in the 6th is the winning hit.
Endwell, NY 7, Warwick, RI 2. Ryan Harlost falls a single shy of the cycle and pitches five innings without an earned run to start a great tournament.

Warwick, RI 8, Bend, OR 0. Kenny Rix hits a three-run homer as Rhode Island eliminates Bend.
San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 12, Emilia-Romagna 7. Gael Cortes homers twice and fans three in 1 2/3 innings to eliminate Italy.
Willemstad 2, Tokyo 1. Jadon Gosepa strikes out seven and Donovan Antonio homers to send Tokyo packing in two games.
Chula Vista, CA 5, San Antonio, TX 0. Victor Lizarraga throws a two-hitter and Devin Hinojosa hits a two-run homer as California tops Texas.

Seoul 10, Vancouver, BC 5. Jung-taek Ru drives in four and Korean hurlers fan all 15 Canadian outs.
Aguadulce, Coclé 3, Sydney, New South Wales 2. Esmith Pineda and Carlos Gonzalez combine to strike out 14. Jose Torres's bases-loaded walk in the 6th scores the winning run.
Bowling Green, KY 14, Johnston, IA 4. Kentucky scores 11 runs in the 7th to roll to a late win.
Bend, OR 6, Emilia-Romagna 2. Isaiah Jensen gives up two hits and no earned runs in 4 1/3 IP in a consolation game victory.

August 23[edit]

Johnston, IA 3, Warwick, RI 2. Johnston eliminated Warwick in a close game, Warwick leading 2-1 into the final frame. In the bottom of the 6th, Miles Risley reached on an error, Michael Siemer singled off Colin Lemieux and Jack Emanuel walked. Lemieux was relieved and Josh Larson singled to tie the game at 2. Kaiden Dinh then hit the game-winning single.
Sydney, New South Wales 2, Willemstad 1. Australia beat Curacao, which was eliminated. Claytong Campbell threw a 3-hit, 14-strikeout gem.
San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 7, Vancouver, BC 1. Mexico eliminated Canada as Victor Juarez and three relievers team on a one-hitter; the only run Canada scores is unearned.
Goodlettsville, TN 4, Chula Vista, CA 2. Zach McWilliams homers, scores twice and gets the pitching win as California is eliminated.
Tokyo 6, San Antonio, TX 1. Ryota Endo allows one run in five innings and drives in a run as Tokyo wins a consolation game.

August 24[edit]

San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 10, Sydney, New South Wales 0. Mexico sent the Aussies packing with a four-inning rout. Jose Angel Leal struck out 10 of 11 batters he faced.
Goodlettsville, TN 14, Johnston, IA 3. Tennessee eliminated Iowa; R.J. Moore's 3-run homer was the go-ahead hit in a big 4th.
Aguadulce, Coclé 3, Seoul 2. Esmith Pineda's 3-run homer in the 5th was the big blow as Panama advanced to the international championship game.
Endwell, NY 13, Bowling Green, KY 10. New York got the first spot in the US championship game as Juide Abbadessa drove in six runs with a 5-for-5 day.

August 26[edit]

Seoul 7, San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 0. Seoul won a rematch with Panama as Seum Kwon hits a solo shot and a two-run homer. Jae-kyeong Kim adds a three-run dinger.
Goodlettsville, TN 8, Bowling Green, KY 4. Zach McWilliams again stars, homering and driving in four, while RJ Moore strikes out five in two innings.

August 27[edit]

Endwell, NY 4, Goodlettsville, TN 2. Endwell won the US title as Michael Mancini strikes out 11. The game is scoreless until Jack Hopko drives in a run in the 4th.
Seoul 7, Aguadulce, Coclé 2. Seoul avenged their earlier loss to Panama, handing Panama its only defeat, in the international championship game.

August 28[edit]

Aguadulce, Coclé 3, Goodlettsville, TN 2. In the consolation game, Carlos Gonzalez and Esmith Pineda hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the sixth for a comeback win.
Endwell, NY 2, Seoul 1. The US won its first title since 2011 as Ryan Harlost struck out eight and scored the winning run. Jun-ho Jeong fanned nine in a loss, while Yoo-min Lee homered. It was the first title for a New York-based team since 1964.
