2016 Little League World Series

The 2016 Little League World Series was the 70th Little League World Series. A US team won for the first time in five years as Maine-Endwell of Endwell, NY and Maine, NY took the title.

  • Johnston, IA 3, Warwick, RI 2. Johnston eliminated Warwick in a close game, Warwick leading 2-1 into the final frame. In the bottom of the 6th, Miles Risley reached on an error, Michael Siemer singled off Colin Lemieux and Jack Emanuel walked. Lemieux was relieved and Josh Larson singled to tie the game at 2. Kaiden Dinh then hit the game-winning single.
  • Sydney, New South Wales 2, Willemstad 1. Australia beat Curacao, which was eliminated. Claytong Campbell threw a 3-hit, 14-strikeout gem.
  • San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León 7, Vancouver, BC 1. Mexico eliminated Canada as Victor Juarez and three relievers team on a one-hitter; the only run Canada scores is unearned.
  • Goodlettsville, TN 4, Chula Vista, CA 2. Zach McWilliams homers, scores twice and gets the pitching win as California is eliminated.
  • Tokyo 6, San Antonio, TX 1. Ryota Endo allows one run in five innings and drives in a run as Tokyo wins a consolation game.

  • Endwell, NY 4, Goodlettsville, TN 2. Endwell won the US title as Michael Mancini strikes out 11. The game is scoreless until Jack Hopko drives in a run in the 4th.
  • Seoul 7, Aguadulce, Coclé 2. Seoul avenged their earlier loss to Panama, handing Panama its only defeat, in the international championship game.

August 28[edit]

  • Aguadulce, Coclé 3, Goodlettsville, TN 2. In the consolation game, Carlos Gonzalez and Esmith Pineda hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the sixth for a comeback win.
  • Endwell, NY 2, Seoul 1. The US won its first title since 2011 as Ryan Harlost struck out eight and scored the winning run. Jun-ho Jeong fanned nine in a loss, while Yoo-min Lee homered. It was the first title for a New York-based team since 1964.
