All-Star Game[edit]
The NPB All-Star Game featured three games and was won by the Pacific League two games to one. The first game was played at Korakuen Baseball Stadium and was won by the PL, 14 - 5. The second game was played at Koshien Baseball Stadium and was won by the PL, 6 - 5. The third game was played at Nagoya Stadium and was won by the CL, 4 - 1.
Postseason[edit]
In the Nippon Series, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp (CL) defeated the Hankyu Braves (PL), 4 games to 3. The winning manager was Takeshi Koba and the series MVP was Kiyoyuki Nagashima.

The 66th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 3705 schools competing for 49 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game Toride Second High School (Ibaraki) defeated PL Gakuen (Osaka) by a score of 8 - 4.
The 56th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 32 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Iwakura High School (Tokyo) defeated PL Gakuen High School (Osaka) by a score of 1 - 1.

All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series[edit]
The 1984 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series featured 16 schools competing in the tournament at Meiji-Jingu Stadium. In the championship game Hosei University defeated Asia University by a score of 6 - 3.

International Baseball[edit]
The Baltimore Orioles toured Japan in the fall of 1984. The touring team went 8 - 5 - 1 against Japanese competition.
At the twenty-eighth Baseball World Cup in Cuba, the Japanese national baseball team placed fourth. At the Olympic baseball demonstration event in Los Angeles, United States, the Japanese national baseball team won the tournament.
