All-Star Game[edit]
The NPB All-Star Game featured three games and was won by the Central League two games to one. The first game was played at Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium and was won by the CL, 2 - 0. The second game was played at Kawasaki Baseball Stadium and was won by the CL, 6 - 5. The third game was played at Fujiidera Baseball Stadium and was won by the PL, 10 - 2.
Postseason[edit]
In the Nippon Series, the Hanshin Tigers (CL) defeated the Seibu Lions (PL), 4 games to 2. The long suffering torakichi finally see their team win its first Nippon Series, and the Tiger's first title after 38 years. The winning manager was Yoshio Yoshida and the series MVP was Randy Bass.
Award Winners[edit]
The winner of the 1985 Sawamura Award was Tatsuo Komatsu of the Chunichi Dragons. He had a 17 - 8 win-loss record, 172 strikeouts, and a 2.66 ERA in 210.1 innings.

The 67th National High School Baseball Championship featured a total of 3791 schools competing for 49 spots in the finals at Koshien. In the championship game PL Gakuen (Osaka) defeated Ube Shogyo High School (Yamaguchi) by a score of 4 - 3.
The 57th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament featured 32 schools competing in the tournament at Koshien. In the championship game Ino Shogyo High School (Kochi) defeated Teikyo High School (Tokyo) by a score of 4 - 1.

All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series[edit]
The 1985 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series featured 16 schools competing in the tournament at Meiji-Jingu Stadium. In the championship game Hosei University defeated Toyo University by a score of 4 - 1.
