Narita was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the fifth round of the 1982 NPB draft, but he spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, only pitching 3 games combined. He was also sent to the San Jose Bees in 1984, and he was 4-4 with a 2.67 ERA there. Narita pitched 13 games with a 3.27 ERA for Seibu in 1986, and his ERA was 3.77 in 7 games in 1987. Narita pitched 3 games for the big club of the Whales in 1990, then he was released in 1991.

The Jungo Bears of the CPBL then signed him when they were founded in 1993, and he debuted on March 13. He completed a game with only one run allowed, and he got the first win in the Bears' history. Narita was the first Japanese pitcher to get a win in the CPBL. He ended up 6-10 with a 3.15 ERA, and he tied Ming-Shan Kang and Yu-Liang Lai for 5th in losses. Narita had a 7.80 ERA in 10 games in 1994, and he announced his retirement. He then became the pitching coach of the Wei Chuan Dragons in 1995.
