Draft Notes[edit]
Alan Benes was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 16th pick in the draft. His brother Andy Benes was the first overall selection in the 1988 amateur draft. They became the first pair of brothers picked in the first round.
In the 43rd round, the Chicago White Sox drafted Carey Schueler, daughter of Sox GM Ron Schueler. It was an apparent publicity stunt, and she never signed with the club.
