Biographical Information[edit]

Greg Swindell was signed as the 2nd overall pick in the 1986 amateur draft by the Cleveland Indians and scout Red Gaskill. He pitched 17 seasons in the majors, winning in double figures six times, including a high of 18 wins with Cleveland in 1988. Starting in 1996, he moved to the bullpen and had some good years as a reliever, including being a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks when they won the World Series in 2001. Overall, he went 123-122 and pitched 2233 1/3 innings over 664 games.

Swindell was an assistant coach for Southwest Texas State University in 2004, and for the University of Texas in 2005 and 2007.

Swindell has been an analyst for University of Texas' Longhorn Network [1] since 2012 and announced Gainesville Regional games in 2014, Athens Regional games in 2018, and Lubbock Regional games in 2019 for ESPN.
