Biographical Information[edit]
Trot Nixon's father, William, grew up with Catfish Hunter, and was Hunter's high school catcher (according to the 1994 Almanac). His sons, Chase and Luke are both on the 2024 North Carolina State University team.
He appeared in the movie Fever Pitch as himself.
In a newspaper interview Nixon called Alex Rodriguez a clown in response to A-Rod's claims of a superior work ethic in Sports Illustrated.
On July 15, 2005, Nixon hit an inside-the-park three-run homer in a 17-1 Boston Red Sox victory against the New York Yankees in Fenway Park.
He was bench coach of the Czech national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
Nixon's sons, Luke (freshman infielder) and Chase (junior outfielder), are both on the North Carolina State University team playing in the 2024 College World Series.
