Biographical Information[edit]

The main quarterback of the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals for one year, Akili Smith spent three years playing professional baseball while he was in college. The 7th-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1993 amateur draft, Smith hit .200/~.276/.305 that year for the GCL Pirates. In '94, Akili returned to bat .174/.192/.304 and get caught in both of his steal attempts. The outfielder finished his baseball career by hitting .125/~.205/.200 for the 1995 Erie Sea Wolves.
