1979 Pacific Coast League season

From BR Bullpen

The 1979 Pacific Coast League season was the 77th season in the league's history. It ended with the Salt Lake City Gulls winning the city's first PCL title since 1971.

The league instituted a split-season format for the first time since 1935. The playoff format was modified slightly, as the semifinals became best-of-three series.

This was the first season for the Ogden A's.
