Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Kuhaulua pitched 8 games in the major leagues. In his second cup of coffee, with the San Diego Padres in 1981, he was quite effective, posting a 2.45 ERA in 29 1/3 innings. Frank Howard was his manager that year, and only two pitchers on the staff - Rick Wise and John Curtis - were older than him.
As a batter, he got his only major league hit off Phil Niekro.
He pitched for the Chunichi Dragons in Japan for one season between his two major league seasons, in 1978.
Kuhaulua's uncle, Levi Stanley, played football for the World Football League's Hawaiians.
