Biographical Information[edit]
John Curtis pitched for Team USA in the 1967 Pan American Games, the lone time they won Gold in the Pan American Games in baseball through 2014. He lost his first two starts, both against Cuba, but then beat Cuba in game 1 of the best-of-3 finals.
He went 11-7 as a rookie for the Boston Red Sox in 1972; he was the last Red Sox rookie to win 10 games until Eduardo Rodriguez did so in 2015.
