Team History[edit]
The Tucson Toros began play in the Pacific Coast League in 1969. For their entire existence in this incarnation, they called Hi Corbett Field home, and for more than a decade they were a Houston Astros farm team. In 1998, they became an Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate, moved to a new home, and became known as the Tucson Sidewinders.
On September 1, 2008, following the departure of the Sidewinders, the Toros were re-born as a member of the independent Golden Baseball League and returned to play at Hi Corbett Field starting in the 2009 season. They disbanded again following the 2010 season when the San Diego Padres temporarily placed the AAA farm team in Tucson, the Tucson Padres.
