Biographical Information

In 1960, Lee Stange led the Carolina League in almost every category as a pitcher. He had league-leading totals with 35 GS, 20 CG, 251 IP, 20 W, 13 L, 235 H, 125 R, 100 ER, and 3 SHO (tied). He was named to the league all-star team.

After retiring, Stange was a coach with the Boston Red Sox (1972-1974), Minnesota Twins (1975), Oakland A's (1977-1979), and Red Sox again (1981-1984). He was a minor league instructor for the A's in 1976, and managed the Tucson Toros for the last two months of the season. He was a coach for the Winter Haven Red Sox in 1987, Pawtucket Red Sox in 1988-1990, Winter Haven again in 1991-1992 and Fort Lauderdale Red Sox in 1993. He also spent time as coach of the Sioux City Explorers in 1997-1998, reuniting Stange with Ed Nottle, who he had coached under in Pawtucket..

In 2017, Stange was the pitching coach for Florida Institute of Technology, a role he had had since at least 2007.
