Azusa Pacific University was known as Pacific Bible College until 1956, Azusa College until 1965, and Azusa Pacific College until 1981. A powerhouse in the NAIA, APU moved to NCAA Division II for the 2013 season. On March 17, 2025, it was announced that Azusa Pacific would be transitioning it's athletic department to NCAA Division III to coincide with the return of their football program. They will join the SCIAC following the 2026 baseball season.
