Biographical Information[edit]
Dennis Rogers has been a long-time college coach and minor league manager.
After an eye injury ended his playing career after one season in the minors, he was assistant coach at John W. North High School in 1976 and head coach of San Gorgonio High School. He was assistant at San Bernardino Valley College for two seasons then returned to his alma mater, Cal Poly Pomona, as an assistant from 1980-83. During this time, he began managing in the short-season minor leagues, which do not overlap with the college schedule. He was the head coach at Southern California College in 1986.
He managed the Nashua Pirates and Macon Pirates in 1986-1987. He then was assistant at Cal State Fullerton in 1988. In 1990, he became head coach at Riverside City College, a role he held from 1990-2009 and again from 2011-2015. He went 761-380-4, setting school records for wins in a season and a career. Rogers led the Tigers to four State Championships, including three in a row (2000-2002).
