Biographical Information

Lindsay Meggs has coached several colleges.

Meggs was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the 1983 amateur draft and the Kansas City Royals in the 15th round of the 1984 amateur draft. He hit .238/.368/.280 in 1984 for the Eugene Emeralds and stole 10 bases in 13 tries. A third baseman in college, he moved to second base (where he fielded .937) due to the presence of Luis de los Santos at the hot corner at Eugene.

After earning his master's degree, Meggs was an assistant at De Anza Junior College (1987-1988) and Cal Lutheran (1988-1989). He became a head coach at Oxnard College in 1989-1990. He then was head coach at Long Beach City College for 3 years.

Meggs became head coach at Chico State in 1994 and held the job until 2006, going 538-228-4. He took his team to the Division II College World Series seven times and won national titles in 1997 and 1999. He was named the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year twice.

Meggs was head coach at Indiana State University from 2007-2009, being named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2009. In 2010, he became head coach at the University of Washington, leading the school to the 1st Super Regional and College World Series appearances in 2018. Meggs retired after the 2022 season. Meggs joined the University of Hawai'i staff as assistant coach in 2024.

Meggs' son, Jack Meggs, played at Washington and played in the Oakland A's chain in 2017-2018. Another son, Joe Meggs, played at Washington and in the minors in 2013-2014, then became an assistant coach at Washington in 2020.
