Biographical Information[edit]
Brandon Sisk began his professional career in the Independent Leagues in 2008, after being undrafted out of Azusa Pacific University (he did not play during his senior year, and was out of baseball altogether for a while, working as a drywall installer). He played for the Bay Area Toros of the Continental League, going 3-3, 1.65 in 8 games before being signed by the Kansas City Royals later that year. They sent him to the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Pioneer League for 4 games, before promoting him to the Class A Burlington (IA) Bees, where he pitched 10 times in relief. In 2009, he was a full-time reliever for the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Class A Carolina League, going 2-3, 1.92 with 21 saves in 45 games. He gave up only 30 hits and 18 walks in 61 innings, while striking out 78. It was a very promising season, even though he was old for the league at 23.
In 2010, Sisk moved up to the AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals, where he pitched 40 times out of the bullpen, with a record of 4-6, 4.46 and 9 saves. He was back in the Texas League at the start of 2011, pitching 16 times with a record of 3-1, 3.77, to earn a promotion to AAA and the Omaha Storm Chasers. He went 4-2, 1.41 the rest of the way, to finish the year with a combined record of 7-3, 2.52 in 41 games, with 58 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings. Back in the Pacific Coast League in 2012, he was a solid 3-2, 2.54 in 50 games, picking up 8 saves and striking out 73 batters in 67 1/3 innings. However, the Royals' bullpen at the major league level was stocked full of promising youngsters who were performing well, so he did not get a chance to move up to The Show. Dealing from strength, the Royals traded him to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on October 31st to obtain veteran starter Ervin Santana.
Sisk missed the 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery. After allowing 22 earned runs in 24⅓ innings between AAA and AA the Angels released him. Sisk signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals in July, then pitched only 3 games with the GCL Nationals the rest of the season.
