2007 AAA All-Star Game
The 2007 AAA All-Star Game was played on July 11, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. The event was hosted by the Albuquerque Isotopes, the AAA affiliate of the Florida Marlins.
The Pacific Coast League served as the home team. The PCL All-Stars were managed by Dean Treanor of the hosting Albuquerque Isotopes. His assistants were Ken Howell of the Las Vegas 51s and Von Joshua of the Iowa Cubs. The International League team was managed by John Russell of the Ottawa Lynx. Stan Cliburn of the Rochester Red Wings and Torey Lovullo of the Buffalo Bisons served as his coaches. The game was broadcast on ESPN2 with Mark Neely and Eduardo Perez calling the game.
In a game where all 12 runs were scored in the first four innings of play, the IL jumped out to an early lead with a four run top of the first capped by back to back home runs from Mike Hessman and Brandon Moss. The PCL answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the first frame off a Val Pascucci two run homer. Brandon Watson picked up an RBI double in the third to give the IL the 5-2 lead. After a scoreless third inning the IL struck again in the fourth with RBI singles from Matt Tolbert and Timo Perez to go up 7-2. The PCL answered that with three runs of their own, including a Craig Brazell home run. The pitchers then took over and held both teams scoreless the rest of the way as the IL picked up the 7-5 victory. Bryan Bullington of the Indianapolis Indians got the win while the loss was given to Justin Lehr of the Tacoma Rainiers, Cory Doyne of the Norfolk Tides picked up the save..
The Top Stars Awards were given to the game MVP from each team. The International League award went to Timo Perez of the Toledo Mud Hens who went 3-4 with 2 RBI. Val Pascucci of the Albuquerque Isotopes won the award for the PCL. Pascucci went 1-4 with a 2 run home run.
The game featured a number of future big leaguers including 2010 NL MVP Joey Votto, Adam Jones and Daric Barton.
