Team History[edit]

The long-time AAA entry of the Kansas City Royals, the Omaha Royals were members of the American Association throughout its final run, 1969 to 1997. There they won three league titles, in 1970, 1978 and 1990. After the AA dissolved, they joined the Pacific Coast League and have operated there since then, except for three years when they changed their name to the Omaha Golden Spikes. The Royals have never had another AAA affiliate.

Following the 2010 season, the team polled its fans regarding a new name and became the Omaha Storm Chasers.
