Biographical Information[edit]
Lefty John Cumberland was a nondescript swingman for the San Francisco Giants and other teams in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He posted creditable lifetime marks of a 15-16 record and a 3.82 ERA while also pitching for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and California Angels. His son Chris Cumberland spent several years in AAA and his nephew Dale Plummer did the same.
Cumberland was a member of the Boston Red Sox coaching staff in 1995 and again from 1999 to 2001. He was then a Kansas City Royals coach from mid-2002 to 2004.
