After being a Rangers affiliate for one year (Lynchburg Rangers in 1975), the team was affiliated with the Mets for 12 years, then switched to the Red Sox (Lynchburg Red Sox 1988-1994).
The Mets won the Carolina League championship in 1978, 1983, and 1984. Lynchburg had the Carolina League MVP for four straight years: Lenny Dykstra in 1983, Barry Lyons in 1984, Shawn Abner in 1985, and Gregg Jefferies in 1986.
