Team History[edit]

The Ottawa Lynx were the first team in Ottawa, ON since the Ottawa A's moved to Columbus before the 1955 season. They were created as an expansion team in the International League as a result of the expansion of 1993 in the National League, which required the creation of two new AAA franchises. At first they were very successful as the affiliate of a very strong Montreal Expos team which played only 110 miles away, but the Expos' repeated fire sales following the 1994 strike and indifferent ownership dampened enthusiasm. After 15 seasons, they moved to Allentown, PA where a new ballpark was completed in 2008 and became the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
