Biographical Information[edit]

Eric Fox hit five home runs for Team USA in the 1983 Intercontinental Cup to tie Cuba's Víctor Mesa for the tournament lead. Fox was named as an All-Star OF alongside Mesa and Lourdes Gourriel Sr.. He was the only American so honored on a team that included Mark McGwire, B.J. Surhoff, Bill Swift and Tim Belcher and which won a Silver Medal. He was with the US when they won a Bronze in the 1983 Pan American Games as well.

Fox was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 22nd round of the 1984 amateur draft and the Philadelphia Phillies in the 13th round of the 1985 amateur draft, but went unsigned. He was then drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 1st round of the secondary phase of the January 1986 amateur draft and was signed by scout Bill Tracy.
